We have been spending time with friends this week, exploring the area where they live on bikes, in canoes and on foot. We have been busy and slow at the same time, taking our time to get the day going each morning, making loose plans, going where the day takes us, exploring the places we were travelling through with lots of pauses. Soaking up the peace and quiet, the beauty of nature and the wonderful company.
We have seen cranongs (not with buildings on) amazing man made islands in the middle of lochs, shipwrecks looking sad and abandoned but somehow beautiful at the same time, islands perfect for exploring, abandoned tunnels from railways long since dismantled but great for singing in, amazing lichen hanging from trees a beautiful adornment, shingle beaches with a treasure trove of stones for filling our pockets with, wonderful colours as nature gives us its glorious displays, blue skies, grey skies and every other colour in between.
Stunning photos. I so want to see Scotland especially after I had to cancel my planned railway journey there this year after breaking my ankle. Next year maybe. So glad you had such a lovely holiday who needs cruises or beach package hols etc!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that you broke your ankle that is so painful. I hope you get to Scotland soon it is a stunning place and will be worth the wait.
DeleteWonderful photos. It sounds like the perfect week, so much to do and see, but all at a leisurely pace. Glad you've all had such a lovely time.
ReplyDeleteIt was a perfect week, it didn't even rain that much despite the forecast being awful!
DeleteOh it’s so pretty. I want to visit Scotland. My brother was there a few years ago and he loved it. I’ve been to Ireland and England but never Scotland.
ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful place. It makes you just want to stop and be.
DeleteOh that sounds bliss. I love Scotland.

ReplyDeleteWe are so lucky to live so close to this beautiful part of our country. If I hadn't put down such strong roots where I live now I would moving there tomorrow.

DeleteLooks like a perfect little break away. I always went to Scotland as a kid on our family holidays. Hopefully get up there again next year. It's not even that far now we have our caravan in Cumbria. :)
ReplyDeleteIt is a long drive isn't it, but even the driving is beautiful and the roads are not that busy once you get away from the Glasgow/Edinburgh hub.
DeleteI so enjoyed seeing all of your photographs … just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan

DeleteWhat a wonderful week, doing so much, I have never been to Scotland but it certainly looks beautiful, thank you for sharing the photos xcx
ReplyDeleteIt was a wonderful week, busy but such fun. Scotland is really beautiful I can really recommend it as a place for a holiday, although make sure you choose a time when the midges will not be around!
DeleteNot quite sure where you were but it looks beautiful (but I have yet to find a part of Scotland which is not gorgeous). Like you, a place I would move to in a heartbeat if I were not tied to Cumbria.
ReplyDeleteWe were staying in Spean Bridge and visited places close to there. I agree, that with the exception of some the large urban areas, Scotland is a beautiful place.
