Do you think it would be difficult for a dyslexic to learn to read music? My eldest is having such a hard time at school with reading and writing so I don't want to introduce something else that he is going to have a lot of difficulty understanding, but I'm sure that being able to play an instrument would do him so much good. Would you mind sharing your thoughts on this?EMMAhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02900165967124695510noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1151798681951781536.post-39395712478380690052014-05-17T12:33:11.477+01:002014-05-17T12:33:11.477+01:00How wonderful! it's amazing what a child can l...How wonderful! it's amazing what a child can learn when left to their own to play and experiment given the right environment. It is amazing how much he has learnt just by playing it and working stuff out for himself. Can you hire an instrument and see whether he likes it? The oboe is up there as a hard instrument to play. I always thought it made a ghastly sound until I heard it played by professionals!sustainablemumhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04099701194160334671noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1151798681951781536.post-26473932600718633142014-05-16T22:25:05.017+01:002014-05-16T22:25:05.017+01:00Thanks for the book recommendation. We do have a piano he can bang away at though, and the odd recorder. He loves it.CJhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14311693185700341580noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1151798681951781536.post-40765457206023998762014-05-16T19:01:27.245+01:002014-05-16T19:01:27.245+01:00Awesome! I have such fond memories of listening to "Peter and the Wolf" as a child and I LOVE the" Carnival of the Animals". "The Swan" is one of my favorite pieces of all time and you've inspired me to get a recording to have my children listen to. Thanks and have a restful weekend!
