Marching On

27 March 2016

:: I reread Jane Eyre, as I hoped to, I absolutely loved it.  I had some very late nights!

:: I have started washing my hair with rye flour, yes you did read that right.  I will let you know how I get on with it.

:: Our singing group has moved outside, we are loving it.

:: I knitted my first ever washcloth.  I know this makes a good first project, I am good at doing things in my own order.

:: We sowed the first seeds of spring, it feels good to be touching the earth again.

:: I sorted all my knitting and sewing patterns into one folder.

:: I have been pondering letter sounds.

:: I made sourdough hot cross buns they were delicious.

:: We have found a smoothie recipe we love, we have been enjoying it with our breakfast.

:: I have started stripping the hall wallpaper.

:: We are developing our own Easter/Spring tradition, starting this year.

What is March looking like where you are?

  1. You've been busy. I haven't sown any seeds yet this year but it's very nearly time to start my tomatoes off, I'm looking forward to it. Wishing you and yours a very happy Easter.

    1. We have sown lettuce and radish and neither are showing any sign of sprouting yet, I think it maybe too cold. They are both in the polytunnel which is a little warmer but we do keep having snow.......

  2. March was so fleeting! I was knitting and working a lot, didn't have a chance to walk as much as I wanted to though! I hope April will be less hectic. Have a great Sunday!

    1. It has gone really fast hasn't it and I can't quite work out why either.

  3. It seems like you've had a positive and productive month. It does feel like it's flown by but thankfully it did bring with it some brighter days.
We have kick started our days following the slump of the winter months. More walking, eating better (until this Easter weekend) and a wedding to prepare for! X

  4. Your March sounds amazing and very productive. I'm really curious about the rye flour - is that in a solution or just as is?

    1. Thank you. The rye flour is in solution and it feels like the oddest thing to be using!

  6. What a great list! March has meant a lot of thinking for me. looking what the right direction is. Some designing. Special times with the children, trying to remember that we only have ' this moment ' and to live remembering that!

    1. Hello, welcome! We do indeed only have this moment but it is all too easy to forget that in and amongst the busyness isn't it ;)

  7. That sounds like a good month! I have been procrastinating, mostly, with a few flurries of determination in between. Next month will be better :-) xx

    1. Procrastinating is good, I do lots of that! It pays to think about things rather than diving in straight away.

  9. We have been doing yard work, yard work, and more yard work! Early spring seeds are in and I only look at the pea bed like 3 times a day to see if they have sprouted yet! You are always doing interesting natural things - rye flour? Looking forward to hearing about it.

    1. It is a good time of year to sort out the garden isn't it. I always end up doing all the stuff I should really do in the Autumn and Winter at this time of year. I can't quite manage to drag myself out on the cold wet days to do it then!

  11. March for us has been mostly beautiful, sunny and warm, but worryingly dry. I hope we have more rain in April. Otherwise, life is pretty darn good. :) I look forward to hearing more about your new hair-washing regimen. I've never heard of this before. I hope you have a good week.

  12. Rye flour? Love to hear more about how it goes. I like the idea of a singing group singing outside. I have images of it being in a beautiful setting. March has been really busy for us. We seem to have packed a lot in, but it has not flown past, which I'm enjoying.

    1. The flour didn't feel quite right but it seems to be working! It is a beautiful setting, the group was already good but now it is even better with nature crafts and outdoor play :)

  13. Here in Australia, March usually promises the beginnings of Autumn days but the much-anticipated change of season has been very late this year. Only now, when we are almost to April, has a slight chill greeted us in the early mornings. Soon, it will be time for Autumn planting in the garden. And some Autumnal makings, I have my heart set on stitching some leaves!

    1. Welcome! The beginning of Autumn is another of my favourites, but we would be putting the garden to sleep not planting our winters are too cold for much to grow.

  14. March sounds like it was a good month for you :) March, for me, has seen a few spring like days, lots of time with friends and family, planning for summer learning, and a lot of making as I get ready to open a new shop.

Hope you have a lovely week.

  15. What an excellent list! I am intrigued by the hair washing - I look forward to your telling us more about it. March is a month of reflection and memories for me, with my late Mum's birthday on the 13th, and the anniversary of my Dad's death on the 28th.

  17. Love your March list. I read Jane Eyre for the first time recently. Had always assumed I'd read it at school but no, just kidding myself (I don't think I read any of the set texts which probably explains my appalling results in English Lit!). You've reminded me I need to knit a new batch of wash cloths so thanks for that. Just one more day left in March and then a new month. Enjoy!

    1. Thank you. The set texts were always lovely books before they got torn apart but relentless analysis it's probably just as well you didn't read them!

  20. What a great month you guys had! It seems like I didn't do much, but I know I did. I just don't think I can organize my list yet. But I'm very hopeful for April.

And dishcloths are how I started. So much fun and quickly done. They are very satisfying little projects.
