The green shoots of snowdrops are tentatively pushing their way above ground.  

The days are gradually getting longer, an imperceptible change as the earth slowly tilts the Northern Hemisphere towards the sun.  

The sun is the golden key to unlock the gates of nature's store of renewed life, to bring spring on its way.

  6. Wow! That's not a sight I will see for many months--a good thick layer of snow on the ground and sixteen below zero the other morning--but always lovely to know it will be coming one day.

  9. my broken-healing toe has kept us from our walks, we haven't seen the snowdrop saplings yet. how exciting. i always love spotting that white in the stark earth.

  11. Just a few miles south, in Worcestershire, the snowdrops are already flowering...aren't they brave!

  13. Lucky- we don't get snow drops(and even then they are hard to find around here) until late April early May. Lovely photo! xo
